16 July 2003 for immediate release Red
Nose Day may seem a distant memory for most of us but not for Chris Hills from
Bacardi UK. Chris was the lucky winner of the raffle held by V24 sponsors, Bacardi
which raised £2335.21 for Comic Relief. The prize? The ride of a lifetime
in a V24 Offshore Powerboat! Chris's dream came true last
week when he joined us for a test day along with four times offshore powerboating
World Champion Pete Little to show him just how it's meant to be done. Despite
being asked to go gently with our guest (!), Chris obviously managed to talk Pete
into some more serious action and they thundered their way around the Solent to
the cheers of his Bacardi colleagues on our safety boat. A
thrilled Chris, who celebrated his 60th Birthday the following day, was ecstatic
about his ride claiming it to be the best thing he has ever done. 'I've managed
to do a few things in my life but this really takes the biscuit. What a birthday
present!' he exclaimed. With the gauntlet laid down by Chris,
Bacardi's Sandra van Looy-Taylor, wasted no time in donning her racesuit and jumping
in alongside Pete. One test drive was obviously not quite enough for Sandra and
she will be joining as guest navigator to race in the Basic Race at Littlehampton
on 3 August. Details of the Littlehampton event will
be posted as soon as we have them.
